Hansi Flick won his first trophy as Barcelona manager by leading his team to a 5-2 win over rivals Real Madrid in the final of the Supercopa de España.
This victory was the third straight win for Barcelona in an El Clasico match.
Even though Real Madrid was leading Barcelona in LaLiga, they wanted to strike again at their rivals in the Supercopa final. Real Madrid started off well and Kylian Mbappe gave them the lead in the early minutes of the game. He skillfully outsmarted Barcelona's defense and scored with his right foot.
But that early lead was the only good part for Real Madrid, as Barcelona made an amazing comeback before halftime. The change started with a great goal from Lamine Yamal, who moved in on his left foot and got the ball past Thibaut Courtois.
Barcelona took charge of the match when Robert Lewandowski scored a penalty after Eduardo Camavinga was fouled by Gavi in the box. Raphinha made the lead bigger just three minutes later by heading in a strong cross from Jules Koundé.
Before the first half ended, Alejandro Balde finished off Barcelona's strong play with a precise shot from 15 yards, leaving Real Madrid with little hope going into halftime.
The second half saw more drama. Raphinha scored the fifth goal for Barcelona just as the game restarted. He sprinted past Real Madrid's defense and scored with a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Things only went worse for Real Madrid when Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for fouling Mbappe, and that really put Carlo Ancelotti's side on the back foot. However, Rodrygo capitalized on the free kick to score one goal for Real Madrid.
Even with the late goal, Barcelona strolled to their first Spanish trophy of the season.
Real Madrid can feel a little better knowing they have a strong record in Supercopa matches against Barcelona (W10, D2, L6), but this defeat will be difficult for them to forget.
